British TV in France

For those people who do not want to or cannot install
the very large Dishes  required around the Region...
Switch to 'Subscription-Free' IPTV, to regain all
your Favourite Channels.......
The Signal from 2f and the new Satellite 2e is not yet 'Stable'
It started a reasonable level but dropped back to much lower levels for
various periods since,  and  to allow for such 'swings' in the signal,
my advice re. MINIMUM Dish size is:

100cm.  Gibertini  Dish at the Montpellier/Toulouse level.
110cm. Triax Dish at the Beziers/Castelnaudary level.
125cm. Gibertini Dish, with Feedhorn LNB, at the Narbonne/Carcassonne level.
150cm. Gibertini Dish, with Feedhorn LNB, at the Limoux/Perpignan level.
180cm. ?Raven? Dish, with Feedhorn LNB, Dish south of the Perpignan/Spanish Border area.

I also recommend that these Larger Dishes and their LNB's
are of the ' HIGHEST QUALITY ' as 'Cheap' Dishes/LNB's  will NOT
give the increases in Signal Required.

Please note: these Dish Sizes may not in fact give 100%
Reception as the (2f) Signal at the edge of the Footprint has been
observed to drop to nearly ZERO for short periods last year
These are our best Estimates for the Future.

The IPTV Alternative.

I personally am still wary of installing Dishes until any Seasonal Drop in Signal has been observed during the
6 months. We should have a better idea after 12 months. It is for this reason, and also for providing a 'Service' to those
people who cannot install 'Large' Dishes in any event, that i am concentrating on supplying FTA IPTV Systems**.

** Please note these FTA IPTV Systems use 'third-party' Streams which could of course be shut down in the Future.
They could are also a little complicated to 'Navigate' but after installing a good number over the past 3 months,
i have found that they are a suitable in most situations.

I am unfortunately still not convinced that a 150cm Dish will actually resolve the issues in the Southern
area of the region and am still reccomending
going down the IPTV Route least in the shorterm.

There is a  'Subscription Free' IPTV System available.  They are slightly Fiddly to use and  require an
internet connection of +/-2mb/s. The Picture Quality is very good, especially if you have a fast enough Connection
to allow streaming in HD. They offer a good number of UK TV Channels, some French Channels, and loads more
from around the world. As well as  'FTA Access' to huge Libraries of Movies / Series etc.
Please note: these devcices are probably not suited for use where there are short term lets. eg Gites.
They connect to your router via Wifi or Ethernet Cable or Home Plug Network.
They are Subscription Free, with the  Technology actually pretty recent  but
i have had a System  here that
has done the job for 8 months so far, although there have been some changes
to the system to get used to. They also rely on 'third party streams' which are outside our control..

This IPTV Systems will work on 'Old Fashioned' (CRT) TV's via A/V or Scart Connections,
as well as on HD TV's via HDMi. The image is however 'Higher Quality' on an HD TV via HDMi.

Please be sure to Check your 'Internet Download Speed at 'Peak Times' of the Day
(maybe 7pm.)........a Speed of 2 mb/s Minimum  is required.

In the meantime if access to UK TV is required i would suggest access via the internet (either via a
a computer/laptop/ipad/tablet etc.)
or using a FTA android based STB or via an 'Dedicated ' IPTV Service.

 FTA IPTV Systems:

A small android based Set Top Box. Connect by either WiFi or Ethernet (cable or homeplug network). Connected  to your TV
(either CRT or HD) via HDMi, A/V or Scart. The main feature is that it accesses Filmon & other Streaming Services (HD or SD)
with no subscription. The Price is 260€** + any mileage costs.
Once fitted there would be NO ONGOING CHARGES.
This System will give access to the main UK Channels eg: all BBC / ITV / C4
C5 / Film Four etc. + French TV and other
Channels from around the world. This device also allows access to 1000's of Movie Streams and Libraries of Series .
Please note:
These systems rely on Streams from the Internet which are outside our Control.

** 2 x Home plugs incl 2 x 2m ethernet cables, if required, add around 60€

The likes of the BBC iplayer etc can be watched here in France but only when a VPN or DNS is used
and a couple of useful sites are: or

Filmon can also be accessed without any restrictions but the SD Version does have adverts etc.

their Service or Contracts or any changes to the Filmon Streaming service and or XBMC etc
